Tribute to Ambroise Paré - Portrait of the Father of Surgery / Samuel Idmtal
Rue Irma Fiévez - 7021 Havré

The artist gave us his interpretation of the work: ‘Through this fresco, stencil painter Samuel Idmtal pays tribute to Ambroise Paré. Considered to be the father of surgery, he invented a number of instruments that led to the development of a new cauterisation technique and stayed at the Château d'Havré for two months during the winter of 1569-1570.
From one cut-out to the next, the artist stencilled his entire portrait, trying to retain the spirit and presence of the drawings from the period. He was also keen to collaborate with Kunlo, an artist originally from Brussels but who has a special link with Mons, having worked there for many years’.
