Leonidas Giannakopoulos was born in Crete in 1983 and is a graduate of the Athens School of Art. Over the last 10 years, he has taken part in numerous multi-artist exhibitions. He has also had 3 solo exhibitions in Greece and Europe. He has also been chosen to produce numerous works of street art in Greece and abroad.

In creating the work ‘Global City’, Leonidas' intention was to produce a composition that represents the concept and history of the Mundaneum and the ideas of its founders.

The title of the work is inspired by Paul Otlet's vision of a global city that would radiate knowledge to the rest of the world and bring peace and global cooperation.

Leonidas wanted to create a work that represented not only the concept of the Mundaneum, but also the human need to dream the impossible and look boldly to the future.
