I believe in nights / Pierre Liebaert
Rue de Nimy - Cour du 106 - 7000 Mons

Pierre Liebaert is a Belgian photographer currently based in Brussels. He is a graduate of the École Supérieure des Arts de l'image ‘Le 75’ in Brussels. His work is regularly exhibited at festivals and in museums. One of his series, entitled ‘Macquenoise’, was singled out by the American website Photo-eye as one of the 26 best works of 2013.
In 2015, in Mons, he took part in the IN/OUT photographic mission and photographed Patti Smith during her visit to the Verlaine Cellule 252 exhibition at BAM. Very often immersive, his projects are often long-term and consume him. For ‘Je crois aux Nuits’, he explores territories where fragile traditions still exist. His interest lies where tragedy is adorned with light. The fantasised song of castrati, the embodied work of Caravaggio, the intransigence of the Flemish Primitives, the universality of carnival figures, the damp scent of worm-eaten wood, the solemnity of processions and the vulnerability of our organs are all fragments that he is constantly seeking to bring together.
