NOIR Artist (Lucien Gilson) is a young Belgian visual artist and muralist trained at Saint-Luc Liège. NOIR Artist creates canvases and murals in almost every format and on almost every surface. But always in shades of BLACK. Or almost, since colour and gold are now also part of the NOIR universe. Paintings, drawings, monumental frescoes, mural art, trompe l'oeil, decoration and urban design, this ‘black’ work leaves few indifferent. Inspired by advertising, pop art, baroque art and calligraphy, NOIR Artist gracefully combines his hyper-realistic pictorial obsessions with more abstract flights of fancy.

In this mural, entitled ‘Seeing beyond’, NOIR artist encourages us to always look beyond the difficulties and obstacles in our lives.

"If there were a theme to this work, it would be “Dare to break your chains”, as shown by the dove at the top of the wall. Far too many of us live with constraints, doubts or uncertainties that prevent us from moving forward. The work reminds us how important it is to always look upwards and towards our dreams, because only by doing so can they one day be realised.

The dove is a symbol of peace and serenity. This bird is very present in the work, especially in the mind of the character. The message is that only with serenity of spirit will we be able to fly away completely.
