Studio Giftig is made up of the Dutch artist duo Niels van Swaemen (1981, Eindhoven) and Kaspar van Leek (1983, Philipsburg St. Maarten). In addition to the quality of the paintings, Studio Giftig's visual language is characterised by the fact that all the images are conceived independently.

Recognisable by the process in which they work is the way in which they translate their own personal concepts by photographing the objects and models themselves. In this way they ensure total autonomy within their visual language as a starting point for their paintings. Studio Giftig has now succeeded in developing its own visual language within urban art, working independently as well as for leading galleries and clients.

The falling Lisianthus flowers refer to the theatrical effect of applause or cheering. Lisanthus symbolises appreciation and gratitude. The people depicted are an experienced nurse and a doctor, who together depict the impact, dedication and human side of working in healthcare. The arrow points to the left, as in the past an arrow pointing to the left referred to in symbolic/spiritual context to ward off evil.
