Mesvin was the scene of the extraordinary courage of Gabriel Ottelet, a member of the Resistance during the 40-45 war. Gabriel Ottelet was killed on 5 June 1944 in Mesvin. After shooting a German officer, he had taken refuge in the attic of the postman of Mesvin, unaware that he too was wanted by the Germans for fraud involving ration coupons. Thinking that the Germans were coming for him, Gabriel Ottelet escaped over the roofs but was shot by a sentry. It was with some emotion that Dridali paid tribute to him.
