After a degree in architecture, Corentin “SPEAR” Binard (1988) traveled around the world and created numerous murals in over 20 countries. His murals can be found in Latin America, Africa, Asia, and Europe.
His travels made him aware of different social realities, opening his eyes to the human condition around the world and prompting him to question our way of life and values. His work is his way of sharing his reflections and questions about contemporary society. Always imbued with a social message, Spear's paintings place the emotional human being at the center of a society that tends to lose its human values.
Spear is fascinated by the old masters, their techniques, and the incredible storytelling power in their paintings. However, he is also greatly inspired by contemporary artists. His work represents a transition between academic training and contemporary representation, shifting from controlled realism to a more spontaneous and deconstructed painting style.
Committed and convinced that we can all do something to change the world we live in, Spear launched the "Painted For Them" project in 2012. The goal of this charitable project is to help those in need and break down prejudices. Based on three pillars—human exchange, artistic creation, and the intention to change mentalities—this project represents a significant part of his work. His latest entirely charitable exhibition, "Invisibles," showcased the stories of twenty homeless individuals he met on the streets.
