The Nature Park of "Les Hauts-Pays": a land of distinction

Located on the French-Belgian border, the Nature Park of "Les Hauts-Pays" spans six municipalities: Honnelles, Dour, Quiévrain, Colfontaine, Frameries, and Quévy. This rural area, home to several Natura 2000 sites, shelters a rich and diverse wildlife and plant life, offering a truly unique natural setting.

Among its must-see treasures are: Angre forest, dear to the famous poet Émile Verhaeren, the museum space and poetic walking trail in his footsteps, the waterfall and mill of Audregnies, the Dour belvedere, and the Colfontaine forest, known for its carpet of blooming hyacinths in spring.

Don’t miss Montignies-sur-Roc, listed among the most beautiful villages in Wallonia, or the tree-lined square in Audregnies — the largest green square in Belgium.

With its rolling landscapes and well-maintained trails, the Nature Park of "Les Hauts-Pays" is a paradise for walkers.

On foot or by bike, explore unique landscapes of fields and forests, where nature, heritage, and biodiversity are carefully preserved.

Soon, a cross-border walking network based on node points will enhance the experience for hiking enthusiasts.

The Nature Park Visitor Center

The ideal starting point for any exploration, the Nature Park Visitor Center in Onnezies provides all the necessary information to plan your visit.

In addition to maps and guides, it offers temporary exhibitions and activities for all ages. It is also a meeting place for locals, tourists, and park stakeholders, allowing for exchanges and a deeper appreciation of the Hauts-Pays' treasures.

Opening hours: The Visitor Center is open Monday to Thursday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. On Friday from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Closed on weekends and public holidays.
