Discover two exceptional cities with UNESCO World Heritage sites during a day rich in history and culture. The morning begins with a guided tour of the city of Mons. You will explore its iconic UNESCO heritage sites, including the famous Belfry, the only baroque Belfry in Belgium. After a delicious lunch at a restaurant in the city center or surrounding region, the excursion continues with a departure to Thuin (aboard the coach of the group), a charming medieval town. There, a guided tour will take you through the medieval city and its impressive Belfry. You will immerse yourself in the history of this remarkable town, with its cobblestone streets and historic architecture, before concluding this memorable day.
Programme of the excursion:
- 09.30am Welcome at visitMons and guided city tour on the theme of UNESCO heritage, including a visit to the Belfry
- 12.30pm Lunch in a restaurant in the city center or the surrounding region
- 2.30pm Departure for Thuin (aboard the coach of the group)
- 3.30pm Guided tour of the medieval town of Thuin and the Belfry
- 5.30pm End of the programme

It was only €3 for students to enter the Belfry. You can see the iconic clock inside, along with other important exhibitions about Mons. There’s a large field in front of the Belfry so it’s a perfect place to have a picnic or simply relax, especially on a sunny day with amazing weather. I absolutely enjoyed the view.

La vue sur la ville est superbe et le spectacle des cloches sonnant depuis le clocher est fabuleux. Le personnel est également très attentionné. Point important, l'accès est facilité pour les personnes à mobilité réduite (même en fauteuil roulant) jusqu'à la plateforme d'observation située à l'avant-dernier étage, grâce à un ascenseur à l'intérieur de la tour qui permet d'accéder à une entrée dédiée depuis la rue adjacente. Cependant, se rendre dans la rue où se trouve le clocher n'est pas chose aisée ; le reste de la ville n'est pas très accessible aux personnes en fauteuil roulant. Je recommande donc de s'y rendre en voiture si possible.

Une solution architecturale originale. D'un côté, le clocher, avec sa haute façade, est visible de partout en ville ; de l'autre, il n'est qu'une petite superstructure sur une colline bordée de parcs. L'entrée est payante.
