Discover two jewels of Belgian religious heritage! In the morning, visit the historic heart of Mons as well as the Treasure of the Collegiate Church of Saint-Waudru, with its superb pieces, sculptures, reliquaries and the famous Golden Coach. In the afternoon, you will head to Soignies and explore the Romanesque Collegiate Church of Saint-Vincent, renowned for its ancient relics and interior decoration. A day rich in history and culture, at the heart of the mediaeval treasures of Hainaut!
Programme of the excursion:
- 10am Welcome at visitMons
- 10.15am Guided tour of the historical heart and the Treasure of Sainte Waltrude Collegiate Church
- 12.30pm Lunch in a restaurant in the city center or the region
- 2.30pm Departure for Soignies aboard the coach of the group
- 3pm Guided visit of Saint-Vincent Collegiate Church and the Museum of the Chapter
- 5.30pm End of the programme

Une collégiale est un type d'église catholique qui n'est pas une cathédrale (le siège de l'évêque) mais qui est desservie par un chapitre de chanoines. Ces chanoines forment une communauté religieuse qui célèbre l'office divin de manière solennelle. D'un point de vue architectural, cette collégiale vaut bien une cathédrale ! Cela vaut vraiment la peine de visiter son intérieur (gratuit !). Par contre, l'extérieur n'est pas terrible, en tout cas d'un point de vue photographique. Pour photographier l'intérieur de la collégiale, il vous faudra un objectif ultra grand angle si vous voulez capturer l'ensemble plutôt que des détails.
