Built from 1450 to 1621, the collegiate church was the private church of the canonesses which may be explored from various angles. Works continued on what should have been the tower until 1686/1687. Among other things, you will discover the 16th century stained glass windows, the remarkable alabaster works by Jacques Du Broeucq (1505–1584), the reliquaries of Saint Waltrude (1867 and 1887), the tombstones, the Golden Coach (1780/1781) and the organs (18th century case). In short, two hours to discover the heritage left to the people of Mons and their visitors by women of the European aristocracy.
The guided tour includes a visit to the Treasure of the collegiate church (during its opening hours).

Onder het motto, toerist in eigen land heb de Collegiale Kerk van van de Heilige Waldetrudis bezocht. Ik was er opnieuw zeer onder de indruk van. Deze kerk is een plaats waar schoonheid, verbeelding en verbinding is, waar je de alledaagse drukte achter je kan laten, waar je kan vertragen en tijd nemen voor jezelf en de medebezoekers. Dit gotische monument is top architectuur en zeer interessant om fotograferen. ik ben er al kind met mijn vader verschillende keren geweest en heb er mooie herinneringen aan. Mijn vader was ook een fan van de vele kunstwerken in deze kerk. Vooral de werken van Jacques du Brœucq (1505-1584), waaronder de beelden en bas-reliëfs in albast te zien in het koor en het transept...Ik ben nog op zoek in de archieven van mijn pa, want hij nam er ook foto's, maar heb ze nog niet terug gevonden..

C'est très beau à l'intérieur. Très grand , très haut je me demande comment à l'époque on pouvait construit si haut sans échafaudage.
