The Castle of the Dukes of Havré: A historic gem to discover
Dating back to 1266, the Castle of Havré has withstood the centuries, enduring numerous sieges and transformations. Owned by the House of Croÿ since 1518, it became a prominent center of the Renaissance, where Ambroise Paré saved Charles Philippe de Croÿ using an innovative technique.
In the 17th century, Charles Alexandre de Croÿ restored the castle, transforming it into a magnificent residence that hosted notable figures such as Van Dyck and Rubens. After the Revolution, the castle declined and was abandoned in 1839. Saved from ruin by the association "Les Amis du Château des Ducs d’Havré" in 1978, this former fortress now benefits from continuous restoration.
Classified as heritage since 1936, this symbol of 16th and 17th-century opulence celebrates in 2024 the 45 years of dedication from the nonprofit organization, which works to preserve it and reintegrate it into contemporary life.

Castelo pequeno e sem acesso mas é mto bonito. Tem um pequeno jardim com parque infantil. Tem também um jardim florido que é possivel visitar

Le site est assez joli. On peut faire le tour du château, s'asseoir sur un banc, tout cela gratuitement : c'est un parc public. Par contre, pour visiter le château ou les jardins, il faut bien se renseigner à l'avance sur les jours et heures d'ouverture. Les jardins, par exemple, sont fermés les weekends.

Le Château des Ducs d'Havré est un très bel endroit. Le cadre est magnifique, avec son lac et les nombreux chemins où l'on croise des familles et des personnes promenant leur chien. C'est un lieu paisible, agréable pour une balade et idéal pour profiter de la nature. En revanche, il est dommage qu'il y ait si peu d'espaces ombragés. Lors de la cérémonie du 14 juillet organisée par le SHAPE, il était difficile de rester dehors pour le vin d'honneur en raison de la chaleur et de l'absence d'ombre. Une grande partie du château est malheureusement en ruine, même si cela fait aussi partie de son charme et de son histoire. Nous avons toutefois pu profiter d'un espace aménagé et regarder la retransmission de la finale de la Coupe du monde de football dans une ambiance conviviale. Un très bel endroit qui mérite le détour, malgré quelques aménagements qui pourraient encore améliorer le confort des visiteurs.

Il ne reste aujourd'hui qu'une ruine d'un petit château. Le parc est mal entretenu et jonché d'excréments d'oies. Le site est néanmoins spectaculaire et une jolie aire de jeux est aménagée pour les enfants. On trouve des places de parking à proximité et le long de la route.
