Jurbise, just a few kilometers north of Mons, is not lacking in charm, with the Château du Moustier the starting point for this walk.

About the activity

Distance

Elevation

From the town hall, the route winds through the fields: potales and chapels mark our way to the Château d'Egmont, dating from the late Middle Ages. On its foundations, a monastic community established a priory, somewhat removed from the world. It's true that on these roads of consolidation, there's a soothing, tranquil feeling. Quietly, we roll along the asphalt towards Herchies. There, a nail tree, a legacy of popular belief, stands proudly: planted in the 1950s, it is the worthy heir to the extinct oak, over 4 centuries old. From the village, we pass through a rural landscape: the peaceful hamlets of Gernante and Petite Vacresse undoubtedly offer a high quality of life to their inhabitants. Before Erbisoeul, we round the Jurbise golf course, one of the oldest in Belgium and designed by the English garden architect Simpson.
