Mons’ city centre is full of cafés, tearooms and coffee shops. With such a tempting offer, it can be hard to choose. That’s why I’m delighted to introduce you to the gems our city has to offer:

Moma Coffee

Rue de la Coupe 10, 7000 Mons

Moma Coffee was the very first coffee shop in Mons. Lily and her young team proved that it was just what the city center needed. The vibe is American, inspired by Manhattan – hence the name. It may be small, but that’s what makes it charming. The sofa near the kitchen feels like a hidden corner, while the window seat remains my favorite spot to watch the world go by. The terrace is also very pleasant.

Favourite drinks: definitely the caramel macchiato and the seasonal creations (Red Velvet Latte, Christmas Latte…). In summer, the iced teas are a real treat.
Favourite sweets: cookies and the homemade cheesecake.

Texas Coffee

Rue de la Chaussée 37, 7000 Mons

This is without doubt one of the most recognizable coffee shops thanks to its decor. Everything here brings Texas and the USA to mind: the decoration, the vibe, the pastries… English is even spoken (great for tourists and people from SHAPE).

Favorite drinks: caramel macchiato and the surprising John Wayne (a mix of hot and cold with a touch of vanilla).
Favorite food: homemade Peanut Butter Cookie Cake, pancakes and savory waffles.

Mel Oh Cake

Rue des Fripiers 11, 7000 Mons

At Mel Oh Cake, you can enjoy coffee and pastries in a spacious, airy tearoom full of natural light. Mélanie, a mom herself, created a kids’ play area and a space for changing. The milk foam on the latte is amazing, as are the milkshakes. You can enjoy pastries on site or order cakes for birthdays and special occasions. The location right next to the Grand-Rue parking is a real plus.

Matouroux

Rue de la Coupe 9, 7000 Mons

Undoubtedly the most refined spot in Mons for coffee and pastries. Mélissa and Thomas aim to create a unique experience, making this little place truly excellent. Everything is homemade, from the pastries to the syrups – like matcha flavoured with strawberry syrup. Twice a month (1st and 3rd Sundays), viennoiseries and breakfasts are served.

Jolicœur

Rue d'Enghien 3, 7000 Mons

At Jolicœur, you can enjoy specialty coffee at an artisan roastery. You can savor a very good coffee on-site with expert guidance, or take home a pack of ground coffee or beans for your own machine. Ludo always provides excellent advice. A cappuccino is highly recommended.

Ginger & Rosemary

Rue du Hautbois 17, 7000 Mons

At this lovely spot, you can have breakfast or brunch from Thursday to Sunday. Drinks are excellent, from coffee to the outstanding matcha coco-mango. The interior and atmosphere give a feeling of being in old Lille, which is very charming.

Moon Coffee

Grand'Rue 11, 7000 Mons

In the pedestrian area, you’ll find a 2-in-1 concept: a coffee shop for on-site enjoyment and a shop for coffee beans, ground coffee, and accessories like mugs and syrups. This lets you recreate the atmosphere of your favorite tearooms and coffee shops at home.

Le Paysan

Rue de la Chaussée 52, 7000 Mons

At Le Paysan, one of the oldest tearooms in downtown Mons, you can pair your coffee with a delicious homemade crepe or waffle. Young owner Benjamin has modernized the menu and social media while keeping the authenticity of the place.

Zenzou

Rue de la Clef 24, 7000 Mons

Zenzou specializes in bubble tea and immerses you in a pleasant Asian/manga universe. You can choose your sugar level (low, medium, high). Of course, the café also offers coffee-based drinks.

Le Pain Quotidien

Rue d'Havré 10, 7000 Mons

A reliable spot in the city center to enjoy coffee, breakfast, or a 4pm treat. The interior feels cozy and homely. Located at the top of Rue d'Havré, just a few meters from the Grand-Place.

Le Paddington

Rue Notre-Dame 66, 7000 Mons

In this tearoom, you are immersed in the past thanks to the vintage decor and unique atmosphere. Ideally located at the bottom of Rue de Notre-Dame (Primark parking), easy to find a spot. Recommended: iced tea, classic tea, or a nice teapot.

Tin Coffee

Rue de la Clef 10, 7000 Mons

The newcomer among tearooms in Mons. The selection includes a wide range of coffees, including Moroccan specialties with spices and the latest trends such as Ube Latte or various latte variations.

Five Senses

Grand-Place 33, 7000 Mons

A few years ago, Angelo moved his café from Rue de la Coupe to the Grand-Place. A successful move given the daily crowds. The menu features trendy coffees that change seasonally, as well as a great selection of bubble teas and pastries.

Pigalle Délice

Rue de Nimy 92, 7000 Mons

The only tearoom on Rue de Nimy, at the bottom of the street. The location is bold and brings life to the street. The decor used to be fully girly and pink; now it’s beige and pink, matching current trends.

Dream Donuts

Grand'Rue 16, 7000 Mons

Undoubtedly the tearoom that will delight children the most and remind us of our youth. The atmosphere is pink and playful, like being in Homer Simpson’s universe. Perfect for the pedestrian area of Mons, adding color and fun. The donuts range from classic to very creative.

Békane

Rue des Juifs 5, 7000 Mons

A unique concept combining coffee with a bike shop and a repair workshop. This is a completely new concept in Mons for enjoying coffee.

Leonidas

Grand'Rue 55/57, 7000 Mons

Often overlooked, but this tearoom has a spacious layout, perfect for families with strollers or elderly visitors. The big plus: with any drink, you receive a free praline, whether on-site or to take away.

Inari Manga Café

Rue d'Havré 6, 7000 Mons

A Japanese café for coffee or matcha, the house specialty. Extra perk: you can borrow manga or board games.

Au Gré Des Mots Bookstore

Rue de la Petite Guirlande 11, Mons

A bookstore for new or second-hand books, where you can quietly enjoy a coffee while reading or working.

Starbucks

Station of Mons

The place to enjoy coffee at the Mons train station. Recommended to sit at the counter and enjoy the view of Place Léopold, the Collegiate church, and the Belfry. Just for that, it’s a must-visit spot in Mons.
