During the Great War, the region of Mons was the scene of major events. This is where the British soldiers experienced their first battles, in August 1914. After more than four years of deadly war, the Commonwealth troops also made their mark in the region, releasing the occupied population from the German yoke. The Canadian soldier, George Price, lost his life on November 11, 1918 at 10.58am. The permanent exhibition at Mons Memorial Museum invites you to dive into the daily lives of these men and women, civil or military who went through these tragic events. Mons Memorial Museum, with a surface of over 3000 m², is a place of reflection and debate that also allows you to discover the daily life of the Belgian population during the Second World War. By regularly proposing temporary exhibitions, the museum prompts you to ask questions about our society, mixing History and Memory.

Extremely interesting war museum that focuses on Mons, but gives a lot of more general insights generally on the two world wars. When we visited they had a very nice temporary exhibition on rumours and war propaganda (the famous story of St George the angels at the battle of Mons).
