The "House of the Marsh" (Maison du Marais) offers visitors an insight into Vincent van Gogh's daily life during his stay in the Borinage from December 1878 to October 1880. Within these walls, Van Gogh, as a self-taught artist, took his first steps into the world of art. Don't miss: reproductions of his works created during his time there, his literary preferences, his correspondence, and the atmospheric room furnished with period decor.

Wie gaat naar een museum om een meer dan een uur durende documentaire te zien ? De projectiezaal neemt de helft van het museum in, er zijn geen authentieke stukken enkel reproducties en een deels nagebouwd kamertje. Bovenverdieping niet te bezichtigen. Het interessantste is het achteroverhellende huis, maar dat kan je gewoon vanop de parking zien.

5 stars for Van Gogh enthusiast, but maybe 3 for someone else. The house is small and only have a few early sketches by Van Gogh. However the video is really good and informative, and the environment gives you a view on how and where he started his artist life.
