Atelier des Capucins

Spread over two floors with offices and storage spaces, the Atelier also benefits from synergies with the Clos des Capucins and its restored chapel, which regularly hosts exhibitions, conferences and cultural events.

A meeting place for literature and ideas

The Atelier des Capucins offers a varied cultural programme throughout the year, including:

• conferences, colloquia and seminars bringing together writers, philosophers, historians and artists
• literary meetings, public readings and debates
• festivals and events dedicated to literature and contemporary thought

These activities extend the editorial work of Éditions du CEP and the journal Revue Ulenspiegel, encouraging a dialogue between cultural heritage and contemporary creation.

An art gallery open to artists

The Atelier des Capucins is also an exhibition gallery showcasing the work of both established and emerging artists. Exhibitions take various forms:

• solo and group exhibitions
• multidisciplinary thematic projects (painting, sculpture, photography, installations, video)
• artistic events linked to major cultural events in Mons

Special attention is given to artists from the Mons–Borinage region and to young creators.

Educational activities and cultural transmission

The Atelier also develops educational activities open to all audiences, including:

• writing workshops for children and adults
• meetings with authors and storytellers
• educational projects in collaboration with schools and cultural institutions

The aim is to make the Atelier des Capucins a vibrant space for learning, reflection and creativity.

The Atelier des Capucins works in collaboration with various cultural and institutional partners in the region, helping to strengthen the artistic and cultural influence of Mons and the Hainaut region.
